The SF-24 Makes its Debut

22 February 2024

Scuderia Ferrari's 2024 campaign kicked off in earnest as they hit the track for the first day of pre-season testing at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir. Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz shared driving duties in the SF-24, clocking an impressive total of 133 laps, covering approximately 719.8 kilometres.

The day's agenda was meticulously executed. Both drivers followed a similar program, testing the car with various fuel loads and utilising the C2 and C3 compound tires. The team focused on fundamental tasks, such as collecting data from the car's rakes and conducting aero mapping exercises. This allowed them to compare real-world performance with digital simulations and wind tunnel data, providing valuable insights into the SF-24's behaviour on track.

The session began with Charles Leclerc taking to the circuit first, completing 64 laps before handing over to Carlos Sainz. Leclerc's fastest time of 1'33"247 came on the C3 compound tires. In the afternoon, Sainz seamlessly took over, notching up 69 laps and setting a best time of 1'32"584 on the same C3 rubber.

Throughout the day, both drivers focused on maximizing their understanding of the SF-24, gathering crucial data to inform further development and refinement ahead of the upcoming season.

We're looking forward to seeing how the SF-24 performs over the next days of testing, and eagerly await the first race weekend of the season.
